Key Observations

• v4 generates RFC 4122 random UUIDs — each call returns unique values, deterministic format xxxxxxxx-xxxx-4xxx-[89ab]xxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx
• v7 generates time-ordered UUIDs — sortable by creation time, validate extracts timestamp_ms (Unix epoch milliseconds)
• Batch generation works — count: 3 returns 3 UUIDs in order; v7 batch shows incrementing timestamps across generated UUIDs
• Nil UUID recognized — 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000 validates as variant: "nil"
• Invalid input handled gracefully — "not-a-uuid" returns {valid: false, error: "not a UUID"}
• No-dash format NOT supported — fb65dd2382e14d9c864f663046fcd601 (32 hex chars, no dashes) returns valid: false
• v7 timestamp extraction verified — freshly generated v7 UUID validated back with correct timestamp_ms matching wall clock
• First call ~241ms (JIT), subsequent calls 1-22ms

Gotchas

1. Dash-less UUIDs rejected — must include dashes in standard format
2. No v1/v3/v5/v6 support — only v4 and v7
3. No namespace UUID generation — v5 (SHA-1 namespace) not available
4. validate does NOT verify cryptographic properties — it checks format only
